The Fast Passage is a superb William Garden design. In his own words, he says it’s “beamier for her length.” Close hauled performance is superior while allowing for sea comfort and spacious accomodations. Famed Northwest designer Robert Perry (who studied under Gardner) was impressed with this yacht’s general similarity of proportions to his own Valiant 40. This yacht goes well to windward and has a large skeg rudder set aft which provides optimum control when running or reaching. As a sloop rig, it is highly effective in the lighter winds of the Pacific Northwest yet allows for single-handing around the globe. Bluewater cruising is optimized with its modified fin keel. The displacement to length ratio is 249.
This vessel has been well maintained. The owners are reluctantly selling after having retired with a move to the desert.
