US Sailing will be providing several one-day workshops for those interested in becoming Certified Race Officers. Becoming a RO means learning the best practices for running races and providing better quality racing for club members.

Race Officers are also qualified to have US Sailing liability insurance coverage when serving on a race committee.

The one-day Race Officer training courses will be instructed by Eric Rimkus, National Judge & Regional Race Officer. The course is open to sailors of all experience levels. The goals of the certification program are to standardize race management practices for the benefit of racers, provide structured training and continuing education for race officers, provide insurance coverage to certified race officers under US Sailing’s general liability policy, and to making racing more enjoyable by improving race management. There are two upcoming events in the Northwest:

Saturday, March 7 from 0830 until 1730 hours at Kennydale Memorial Hall 2424 NE 27th Street, Renton, WA, and on Saturday, March 14 from 0830 until 1730 hours at Willamette Sailing Club 6336 SW Beaver Avenue, Portland, OR. There is a $35 seminar fee includes workshop, course materials, & online testing for certification. Lunch will not be provided. You must be a member of US Sailing. Enroll now at ussailing.org.
