2023 Azimut 60 Flybridge

by Randy Woods

Elegance, space, agility: the brand new, Italian designed Azimut 60 Flybridge available from Alexander Marine offers it all this summer.

Set to arrive at Alexander Marine in Seattle this summer, the recently unveiled Azimut Yachts’ 2023 60-foot Flybridge model features wide-open spaces on the main deck and well-appointed social areas for entertaining. Designed by Italian legends Stefano Righini for the overall concept and Achille Salvagni Architetti for the interiors, the newest model makes good use of its carbon-fiber construction to provide large, dynamically stable surfaces without adding extra weight.

The namesake flybridge itself, which comes with an optional carbon-fiber hard top, is accessed via teak ladder and has anti-slip treatment on the upper deck. Aft of the flybridge helm, a C-shaped sofa seats six people and surrounds a teak table that opposes an L-shaped cabinet and refrigerator to starboard.

In the wheelhouse, navigation equipment includes the Raymarine’s Bronze Package, with engine displays, thruster controls, rudder, a chain meter counter, and VHF. The Optimus Electronic Power Steering system by Seastar provides the sensation of driving a sports car, with customized levels of helm responsiveness depending on speed. Speaking of speed, the twin Volvo D13 diesel engines top out at 31 knots, and cruise at 26 knots, tapping all 1,800 horses.

On the main deck, the Azimut 60 does not skimp on the modern luxury amenities: the carpeted salon includes a comfortable sofa to sit six people to port and a two-seater to starboard, along with space for a stereo system and high-definition TV. Forward of the salon, the galley features a ceramic glass four-hob range, a combination refrigerator/freezer, a microwave oven and grill, and a built-in wooden cutting board. A dinette opposite the galley includes a table with sofas on opposite sides to seat four people. More seating areas can be found on the bow deck and aft cockpit with plenty of room for lounging and entertaining.

Belowdecks, the accommodations are carpeted and have Venetian blinds that can bring both light and sleep-inducing darkness into the cabins. An owner’s cabin located amidship boasts a double bed, an en suite head with synthetic teak flooring, and a separate column shower. The VIP cabin in the bow section also has a double bed and panoramic views though its large windows, while another guest cabin has fixed single beds and access to a day head and shower.
