Coho Ho Ho Gets Rolling

by Kurt Hoehne

cohohohoThis is from our friends at the Coho Ho Ho. Congrats on building from last year’s success! And kudos to the businesses rallying to support it. If you’re thinking of heading south, joining the rally is definitely something to consider.

Year 2 of the Wednesday weekly Coho Ho Ho seminar series at Dockside Solutions got off to a great start May 7th.  Every chair was filled, there was plenty of good food,  lots of questions and lively interaction.  Lisa Vizzini & her husband Dan from Port Townsend Rigging gave a powerful presentation. Coho cohorts gained valuable insight into the importance of paying close attention to the metal architecture that constitutes a boat’s rigging.  Everything from proper sizing and tuning, to metal fatique, to proper inspection and maintenance was touched upon.

Then, on Saturday May 10th, 4 boats and more than a dozen  brave souls punched through some stormy weather on our first field trip to Port Townsend Rigging’s  facility.  Saturday we were treated to sunshine and a hearty outdoor breakfast at the Blue Moose Café.  A short walk away, we delighted in a tour of Dan & Lisa’s rigging shop, culminating in a ‘show and tell’ of one of the rally participants’ well prepared yacht.  Lisa dazzled us with hardware knowledge and Dan gave us as much detail as we could handle as he ascended the rig in his climbing gear.  A fantastic day was had by all!

Equally fun and very informative seminars were presented the following Wednesdays.  Scott & Nigel from CSR Marine and Alex, Joe & crew from Ballard Sails impressed attendees beyond everyone’s expectations.

There’s  still time to join. Please feel free to visit www.cohohoho.com for more information.
