Pink Boat Regattas

by Editor

It’s vital that you begin prepping for this event early. There may be a run on pink garments at local thrift stores. And there are those pre-race parties. Seriously, this is a vital cause and the grass roots organization behind it makes sure the money goes to where it’s needed. Here’s the information you need:

This August & September, sailors from around the Puget Sound will be coming together for a fun-filled and competitive day on the water to support breast cancer research and prevention through sailing. In 2014, we donated an unprecedented $68,837 to The Breast Cancer Research Foundation http://www.bcrfcure.org/ this year’s goal is $100,000!

In its 4th year, The Pink Boat Regatta typically draws more than 50 boats and several hundred participants, spectators and survivors, across the two events in Bellingham (August 30) & Seattle (September 13). As a volunteer-driven event and organization, our success and impact for the cause are highly dependent on contributions and partnerships. The following sponsorship levels* are available for one or both events:

$5,000 – Commodore Level Event Sponsor

$2,500 – Admiral Level Event Sponsor

$1,000 – Captain Level Event Sponsor

$500 – Crew Level Event Sponsor

(*Sponsorship levels will be recognized on our website for one year as well as event banners, social media, etc.)

This year we are thrilled to have such prestigious sponsors as the Seattle Cancer Care Alliance http://www.seattlecca.org/ –A world-class cancer treatment center that unites doctors from Fred Hutch, UW & Seattle Children’s. Additional sponsors include: Latona Builders, CSR Marine, SPIE, Elizabeth Roberts, PRISM Graphics, ENIGMA, Spinnaker Bay Brewing, Virginia V Steamship, among others.

We have many fun things planned including an August 12 Seattle Kickoff Party http://www.pinkboatregatta.org/new-events/kickoffparty2015 in which Julie Gralow, Director of Breast Medical Oncology at Seattle Cancer Care Alliance, will be our honored guest speaker, August 30 Bellingham Regatta http://www.pinkboatregatta.org/new-events/bellingham2015.  Join us on September 12 for a fundraising Celebration Dinner aboard the Virginia V, where our friends from the Breast Cancer Research Foundation, Seattle Cancer Care Alliance, UW will speak about how Pink Boat Regatta supports our local cancer research & treatment community & finally the September 13 Seattle 2015 Regatta http://www.pinkboatregatta.org/new-events/seattle2015 —Spectators can follow the Seattle Regatta aboard the beautiful Virginia V (buy your tickets here:  https://race.pinkboatregatta.org/cgi-bin/pink_order)  —exciting details are still unfolding—Stay Tuned!     -Karen Fortenberry
