16-year-old Natasha Lambert Sails, Climbs with Athetoid Cerebral Palsy

by Kurt Hoehne

Natasha Lambert is cheeky. So says her sailing coach. You’ll probably agree. And if this English girl was cheeky already, she’ll be even more so as she finishes her “sea and summit challenge” in the coming days. She is sailing a specially modified Mini Transat boat controlled by “sip and puff,” and walking with the help of a Hart Walker. When complete, she will have sailed 430 miles and climbed 2907 feet.

These days it’s less and less uncommon for physically challenged people to take on adventures that used to be reserved for the most able bodied. But “Tash” is something else again. The video tells the story better than words can. Her spirit is incredible. And, clearly, her parents and sponsors have responded with extraordinary effort. “She’ll keep everyone else going,” her mother explains.

The page with the tracker is here. She’s down to one short sailing leg and her climb of Pen Y Fan, the highest mountain in Wales.

Go Tash!

And here is the best part, she’s raising money for three charities!

Thanks to Peter Marsh for his eagle Internet eyes.
