Blackfin 272 Dual Console

Blackfin-272
Florida-based Blackfin boats have a Pacific Northwest dealer, Irwin Yacht Sales, after a long hiatus. These popular fiberglass outboard dayboats come in a variety of 20-something foot sizes and shapes, including the 272 Dual Console (DC).

Firstly, it’s important to note that dual console does not mean dual helm, rather the term differentiates the 272 DC from its center console Blackfin sisters. What the 272 does have is a spacious starboard bias helm under a hardtop and across a walkway, another console to port with seating and access to a large, for a boat this size, enclosed head. Forward is generous seating in the foredeck, which includes deployable armrests and railings for comfort and safety.

Aft of the helm is an open cockpit with a fishing emphasis, complete with integrated rod holders, live bait well, and options to stow the padded seating when it’s time for fish on. The fish slaying tools, an integrated Fusion sound system, the optional drawer fridge and grill, and swim step with ladder are ingredients for a good time on a sunny day.

Blackfin 272 Dual Console specs
Twin outboards are the standard setup with Mercury and Yamaha engines being factory standard. The Blackfin 272 DC has a rated maximum power of 600 horsepower (a lot for a boat this size) and a recommended horsepower of 447.

According to Blackfin’s published numbers, a dual outboard setup with two Mercury engines at 600 horsepower total yields 33 miles per hour speed while consuming 17 gallons per hour.

All in all, the Blackfin 272 Dual Console looks like a great time whether the goal is a day on the lake with friends or flying across bluewater chasing groceries. There are quite a few custom options, too. If interested, you can learn more from local dealer Irwin Yacht Sales.
