Leukemia Cup Kickoff

by Kurt Hoehne

The Leukemia Cup has been around for a long time, raised a great deal of money and helped countless sufferers of these diseases. This event is our friend Gary Jobson’s baby, and it’s a very effective program. Today (Thursday) is the kickoff party at the Palisade restaurant at Elliott Bay, free to the public. June 6 is the event itself. Have a drink tonight, raise some money, go for a sail, and feel really good about it.

Shiver Me Timbers: Adventures & Hope Abound at 2015 Leukemia Cup Regatta

YARR ME HEARTIES!! This year’s Leukemia Cup Regatta has a pirate twist. Who knew that curing cancer and sailing with your pirate flag flying proudly could go hand in hand? That’s exactly what this year’s Leukemia Cup Regatta hopes to accomplish. New to this year’s Regatta is a pirate theme.  There will be booty galore for those dressed in costumes, special fundraising incentives and more fun than you can store in a treasure chest.kickoff

Spend Saturday, June 6, 2015 sailing and the time leading up to that day fundraising to find a cure for blood cancers. This year’s Regatta pirate theme embodies the fun in fundraising. The Leukemia Cup Regatta is an annual sailing event that takes place in Elliott Bay, adjacent to downtown Seattle. As the kickoff event of Elliott Bay Marina’s Downtown Sailing Series, the Leukemia Cup Regatta is a casual race meant to bring sailors together over their love of boating and pirates and their commitment to fighting blood cancer.

Since 1988, the sailing community has helped raise more than $50 million for blood cancer research and patient services. Bringing help and hope to patients and their families. The money raised goes to work right here in the Puget Sound with a commitment of $3.2 million dollars in research grants at UW and The Hutch in 2015.
