The scene yesterday could have been 50 or 100 years ago, wooden fishing boats making their way through Seattle’s Ship Canal to Lake Union. But in this case it was a fleet headed for going on display near the Center for Wooden Boats. These are real, live fishing vessels that are on display as part of the 100th anniversary of the Fishing Vessel Owner’s Association and the CWB’s Highliners: Boats of the Century exhibit.

The vessels will be moorage at Historic Ships Wharf at South Lake Union, and the exhibit includes myriad displays about the fishing industry, the vessels and the characters that surrounded this vital part of Northwest History.

The exhibit opens tomorrow. Don’t delay too much, the boats head out to their day jobs come March.

Lots more information here and here.

There’s a wonderful gallery of photos on CWB’s Facebook page.
