Targa 27.2

The sea never rests, and neither will the new Targa 27.2 from Cardinal Yacht Sales, renowned for its exceptional seaworthiness and unparalleled build quality.

Smartly furnished; roomy and comfortable; versatile by design, precision crafted from bow to stern—Finland’s finest, Botnia Marin, introduces the latest in its venerable Targa line, the Targa 27.2.

Launched at the Helsinki International Boat Show in February, the third-generation Targa 27.2 sets a new course for the series, while retaining the stable structure and superb offshore performance of previous models. Several decades after its first launch, Targacontinues to inspire boat lovers everywhere to dream of open waters and memorable voyages. Make your custom selections and the bespoke 27.2 is finished to your wishes, from the hull color, interior upholstery, and fittings to the navigational system and pantry equipment.

The compact, muscular 27.2 comes with more space than its 27.1 predecessor—5” longer and nearly 3” wider abeam. It also comes with an optional flybridge, plus a larger head compartment, forward and below the helm.

The 27.2 roomier pilothouse provides access to passageways on both sides with two sliding doors. Inside there are six seats, which can face forward or be turned around toward the aft saloon for gatherings and meals around the foldable table. The helm chair can be pushed back and the wheel tilted forward to allow for standing operation, with clear views of analog instrumentation above the windshield. On the port side is a small galley with a refrigerator under the helm, smart storage drawers for tableware, a small fresh-water sink, and a two-burner stove that can be ingeniously hidden under a fold-down wooden countertop when not on use. Open a foldable hatch under the pilothouse bench seat to access the aft double-berth layout with two pipe berths. The cabin quarters can accommodate up to four people for trips on the water. In another efficient use of space, storage compartments and a wardrobe are located beneath the stairs.

The foredeck cockpit features outdoor U-shaped seating for comfortable entertaining, located above handy storage lockers, one of which stores a retractable wooden table. At the stern is a wide swim platform accessed by a ladder, as well as seating atop more storage lockers. From the self-draining aft deck, three ladder stairs bring you up to the open-air flybridge, with a passenger seat, helm chair, and 360-degree views to make steering a little easier.

And then there’s the “hull of fame” that ensures seaworthiness and safety in open-water swells and whitecaps, while that aforementioned larger beam improves handling and comfort. Power for the 27.2 comes from one of three inboard Volvo Penta diesel engine options, the D6-330, D6-370, or D6-400, all easily accessible through a hatch near the stern. The estimated top speed with the 400-hp Penta is nearly 40 knots, with a cruising speed of 23-30 knots. At any speed, the 27.2 provides rapid acceleration, total control in tight turns, and a smooth overall ride. That ride is so smooth that the experts at Cardinal Yacht Sales say that fall and winter are actually the best times to come take a test ride and be impressed by this boat’s ability in even the most adverse conditions.
