Westlake Peaceful Protest

by Kurt Hoehne

The controversy over a proposed “cycle track” along Westlake Avenue in Seattle is heating up. This came in yesterday from the Westlake Stakeholders Group

A CALL TO ACTION

The Cascade Bicycle Club has planned “Policy Bicycle Ride” through Westlake on Sunday, Jan. 26, 2:00 pm – 3:00 p.m., and continue to ridicule our deep-seated concerns by calling us “a few vocal obstructionists.”

Fortunately, we know that we are fighting to protect a critical part of the working waterfront that hosts hundreds of thousands of visitors, residents, employees and boat owners throughout the year.2013_1003_WCT_BaseMA

Please join us in representing our community in a peaceful protest of sign-waving to show Councilmember Tom Rasmussen and his cycling activists that we are a diverse, unique community!

More than 120 people attended our community briefing on Jan. 21, and this is a perfect opportunity to show your support to those that would seek to turn our neighborhood into a bicycle freeway!

Please RSVP by Friday, midnight, by clicking on this link Register for Event  to ensure we have enough signs for everyone.

Thank you for your support!
