There is sad news today from California. Hobie Alter, father of the modern surfboard and of course the Hobie Cat sailboats, died on Saturday. Those lucky enough to meet the man will always think of him as humble and down to earth. And many of those reading this may way have crossed wakes with Alter, since he plied the Northwest waters with his 60′ power catamaran Katie Sue for many years. RIP.
